Respect for the Environment Every day we work to make production more efficient and better for the environment. We use the latest technology. Our farms are now mainly based on drilling water, which is reused several times in the plant. Water from the stream is no longer a part of modern fish farming operation. The water is cleaned effectively before being discharged into the stream. We use MMS on all plants.

Water Quality is High

Denmark has world's highest standards for environmentally-friendly aquaculture production. In addition to meeting these requirements, we have chosen a number of areas to be even more environmentally-friendly than the comprehensive rules require. Our rainbow trout are produced under controlled conditions out of consideration for the environment - we can rightly say that it is environmentally sustainable rainbow trout.

To do this Freshwater Trout is using the latest technology. We have over the years been engaged in building various plants so they preserve the environment as much as possible. At the same time we have started a process whereby we can be environmentally certified to ISO rules.

Model 3 plants are modern production plants, where we recycle water. The water becomes purified through large mechanical and biological filter systems. It is a very complicated process where water quality is constantly checked on various parameters. In the old, traditional plants we used 600 to 1,500 litres of stream water per second. Today we spend around 25 to 60 litres of groundwater per second. The water is reused 96 times in a plant. Then it will be discharged into the stream after the thorough cleaning. Thus, in modern systems we use no more water from the creek.

By rebuilding the plants, we achieve a higher output, and the stream gains on a better environment.

It should be noted that the vast majority of traditional plants have not polluted for many years, but with the existing rules there is no real possibility of an extension of that type of facility.
